Beth A. Collins Sharp, PhD, RN, is Senior Advisor for Women’s Health at AHRQ. Prior to assuming that role in July 2010, she was Director of the Evidence-based Practice Centers (EPC) program at AHRQ. Her scholarly interests are in the areas of maternal-child/women's health care, evidence-based practice, nursing research and practice, patient-oriented and outcomes research.

Sharon Schindler Rising, MSN, CNM, FACNM is the President and CEO of the Centering Healthcare Institute, Inc (CHI), a non-profit organization dedicated to changing the paradigm of health services in order to improve the overall health outcomes of mothers, babies, new families and all individuals across the life cycle. She also is on the clinical nursing faculty at the Yale School of Nursing and an adjunct professor at the University of Technology, Sydney, AU. She was awarded the Purpose Prize by Civic Ventures in December 2008, and in 2010 won the Trout Premier Cares Award, was named an Edge Runner by the American Academy of Nursing and was awarded the top honor given by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

May is Women’s Health Month, an ideal time to look at new ways to meet the health care needs of underserved women. Join Beth A. Collins Sharp, PhD, RN and Sharon Rising Schindler, MSN, CNM, FACNM as they discuss the health care needs of this vulnerable population and the Centering Care Model, an innovation that addresses the vital area of prenatal care.
