Executive Summary
Gambling is not an ordinary kind of leisure; it can be a health-harming, addictive behaviour. The harms associated with gambling are wide-ranging, affecting not only an individual's health and wellbeing, but also their wealth and relationships, families and communities, and deepening health and societal inequalities. By examining these harms, the Commission unveils the intersections between the social, commercial, legal, and political determinants of health. The Commission sheds light on the increasingly complex commercial ecosystem for gambling and its digital transformation which offer unparalleled capacities for gambling. The Commission calls on governments and policymakers to treat gambling as a public health issue—just as for other addictive and health-harming commodities, such as alcohol and tobacco—and provides recommendations to prevent and mitigate the broad range of harms associated with gambling.

The prescribing information includes warnings for hypersensitivity reactions, Clostridioides difficile-Associated Diarrhea (CDAD), and potential exacerbation of gout when given to patients with a known history of gout. Orlynvah is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to the components of Orlynvah (sulopenem etzadroxil and probenecid) or other beta-lactam antibacterial drugs, patients with known blood dyscrasias, patients with known uric acid kidney stones, and patients who are also taking ketorolac tromethamine.
The most common side effects of Orlynvah were diarrhea, nausea, vaginal yeast infection, headache, and vomiting.

Some of these will be released as Issue Briefs on the AHRQ website, while others will be published in peer-reviewed journals. A list of topics is below.

Register To Attend an IDEAS Project Webinar: Diagnostic safety events are common and pervasive across all healthcare settings. AHRQ has developed several resources to improve diagnostic safety: Calibrate Dx, Measure Dx, and the Toolkit for Engaging Patients in Diagnostic Safety.
Toolkit for Engaging Patients To Improve Diagnostic Safety
Toolkit for Engaging Patients To Improve Diagnostic Safety: Diagnostic errors occur in all care settings and one in three patients will experience a diagnostic error firsthand. Research suggests that communication breakdowns during the patient-provider encounter are a leading contributor to diagnostic errors. To promote enhanced communication and information sharing within the patient-provider encounter, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has developed a toolkit. This toolkit is designed to help patients, families, and health professionals work together as partners to improve diagnostic safety.
Measure Dx: A Resource To Identify, Analyze, and Learn From Diagnostic Safety Events
Measure Dx: A Resource To Identify, Analyze, and Learn From Diagnostic Safety Events: Diagnostic errors are major contributors to patient harm. Strategies to identify and analyze these events are still emerging, but several show promise for use in operational settings. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has developed Measure Dx to help healthcare organizations identify diagnostic safety events and gain insights for improvement.
Calibrate Dx: A Resource To Improve Diagnostic Decisions
Calibrate Dx: A Resource To Improve Diagnostic Decisions: Delayed, wrong, and missed diagnoses are major contributors to patient harm. Lifelong learning is essential for achieving and maintaining diagnostic excellence. Diagnostic excellence involves not just making a correct and timely diagnosis but also doing so while using the fewest resources necessary, optimizing patient experiences, and managing uncertainty. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has developed Calibrate Dx to provide clinicians with guidance for evaluating and calibrating diagnostic performance for the purposes of learning and improvement.
2023 Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Consensus Conference on Precision Emergency Medicine: Development of a policy-relevant, patient-centered research agenda
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38779704/
AHRQ-supported researchers recommend a strategic research agenda for health professionals and educators to create a training framework to integrate precision medicine into emergency medicine. In the first of two articles published in Academic Emergency Medicine, the authors presented the findings of a national consensus conference convened to define precision emergency medicine, develop an evidence-based research agenda and identify educational gaps. Conference activities led to a definition of precision emergency medicine—using information technology to deliver acute care effectively—and the development of key research questions for a 10-year precision emergency medicine research agenda. In the second article, researchers identified key drivers of integrating precision medicine into clinical practice. A third article, published in Academic Emergency Medicine Education & Training, presented the eight education research questions that reflect challenges and opportunities for precision medicine education in emergency medicine.
