Families Many families can get help. States have different rules, but in most states, uninsured children 18 years old and younger whose family incomes are up to $46,000 per year (for a family of 4) can qualify for either Medicaid or CHIP.
With the Affordable Care Act…

  • Teens and young adults can stay on your plan
  • There is coverage for children's pre-existing conditions
  • No more lifetime dollar limits on your care
  • Preventive care is covered
  • Insurance Companies are held accountable

Individuals The health care law helps improve care and lower costs for healthy individuals and people with health conditions. When key parts of the health care law take effect in 2014, there will be a new way to get health insurance: the Health Insurance Marketplace. The Marketplace is designed to help you find health insurance that fits your budget, with less hassle. Starting in 2014, if your income is less than the equivalent of about $88,000 for a family of four today and your job doesn’t offer affordable coverage, you may get tax credits to help pay for insurance.

Small Businesses Today, small employers may have a tough time finding and affording coverage that meets the needs of your employees. Starting in 2014, you’ll have more choice and control over your health insurance spending through the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP). You’ll also have exclusive access to an expanded Small Business Healthcare Tax Credit. This tax credit covers as much as 50% of the employer contribution toward premium costs for eligible employers who have low- to moderate-wage workers.

Clinicians Learn the top 5 ways you and your practice benefit from the Affordable Care Act.

1. Reduced administrative burdens and more time seeing patients. The law invests in programs designed to help you and your practice transition to electronic record systems.

2. New consumer protections hold health insurers accountable, putting patients and clinicians first. Insurers can’t cancel coverage when a patient gets sick, and they can’t set lifetime benefit limits that leave patients without coverage in times of catastrophic need. Insurers that don’t spend at least 80% of premium dollars on patient care have to provide rebates to consumers. Read more about consumer protections.
