2013 National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Reports Published
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality published its annual reports on the nation’s healthcare quality and disparities. Highlights from the 2013 National Healthcare Disparities include the following.
Quality is improving on some measures for all groups
  • Across all measures of health care quality tracked in the reports, 60% showed improvement.
  • Improvement occurred among all racial, ethnic, and income groups, although a smaller proportion of measures showed improvement among American Indians and Alaska Natives.

Access got worse for many groups from 2000-2002 to 2010-2011, but some improvement was observed.
  • Across the measures of health care access tracked in the reports, one-third of measures were getting worse for the overall U.S. population.
  • For Hispanics and poor people, the number of access measures that were improving exceeded the number that was getting worse.
