| Vital Signs: Disability and Physical Activity – United States, 2009-2012 Dianna D. Carroll, PhD, Elizabeth A. Courtney-Long, MA, MSPH, Alissa C. Stevens, MPH, et al. MMWR 2014;63:1–7. The 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommend that all adults, including those with disabilities, get at least 2.5 hours of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity a week, or 1.25 hours of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity a week, or an equivalent combination. CDC analyzed data from the 2009–2012 National Health Interview Survey to estimate the prevalence of, and association between, aerobic physical activity and chronic diseases among adults aged 18–64 years by disability status and type. |
