eGEMS Call for Papers: Improving 
User Interface to Improve Patient Outcomes

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the 
Electronic Data Methods Forum have issued a call for papers for a 
special eGEMs(Generating Evidence & Methods to improve 
patient outcomes) issue titled “Evidence into Action: Improving User 
Interface to Improve Patient Outcomes.” Authors are encourage to 
submit papers that examine conceptual models for development 
of user-friendly HIT interfaces, innovative methods for usability testing, 
and results of pilot or usability testing that demonstrate improved 
process outcomes. eGEMs is an open access journal focused on 
using electronic clinical data to advance research and quality 
improvement, with the overall goal of improving patient and 
community outcomes. 
Deadline for manuscripts: September 10, 2014.

eGEMS Publishes 50th Paper in Issue 
Focused on Health IT-Enabled 
Community-Based Transformation

eGEMs, an open access publication of the EDM Forum, has published 
its 50th paper, which focuses on strategies to improve quality of care 
in smaller healthcare facilities. Publishing since 2013, eGEMs facilitates 
the rapid dissemination of lessons learned from using electronic health 
data to advance research and quality improvement. With the overall 
goal of improving patient and community outcomes, eGEMs papers 
share important stories and strategies from the cutting edge of health 
information technology.
