As a reminder, ONC wants to hear your feedback before the 2018 Interoperability Standards Advisory (ISA) reference edition is published later this year. National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM): Protecting Healthcare’s Critical Infrastructure from Cyber ThreatsAs part of the 2017 National Health IT (NHIT) Week, ONC hosted a Long-Term and Post-Acute Care (LTPAC) listening session with a variety of stakeholders. Participants addressed several themes including transitions of care and interoperability were in this session. ONC’s Principal Deputy National Coordinator for Health IT, Genevieve Morris, and Liz Palena Hall, ONC’s LTPAC Coordinator, co-authored a new blog post recapping this session. To improve your resilience to cyber-attacks, HHS asks that healthcare organizations share timely, actionable, and relevant information on cyber threats with other organizations in the health and public health sector. ONC and the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) provided grants to the National Healthcare-Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (NH-ISAC) to improve their capacity to engage with healthcare entities of all sizes. HHS Opioid Symposium & Code-a-ThonThe U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is asking experienced data scientists, computer programmers, researchers, public health experts, and innovators to come to Washington, DC for an opioid Code-a-Thon on December 6-7, which will challenge participants to develop data-driven solutions to combat the opioid epidemic.
