Health insurance rates stay steady in 2018

New numbers from the CDC show the uninsured rate stayed steady for the first three months of 2018. Among adults ages 18 to 64, roughly 12 percent didn't have health insurance, 19 percent were covered by a public program, and 70 percent had private health insurance. That shakes out to 28.3 million uninsured people. While that's not much different from the 2017 numbers, it's 20.3 million fewer people without insurance than in 2010. One interesting note from the report: The percentage of people under age 65 with private health insurance who had a high-deductible health plan increased to 47 percent, up from 44 percent in 2017.
