New publication: Reminder calls and texts for patients to get laboratory testing improve health care system outcomes



Division of Laboratory Systems scientists Dr. Ira Lubin and Dr. Rex Astles recently co-authored an article with health system partners. The study found that technology-enabled reminders to rheumatology patients increased recommended laboratory testing of those at risk for antirheumatic drug-related adverse outcomes. A key feature of the multidisciplinary quality improvement initiative was the use of a medical data warehouse that permitted the integration of clinical and laboratory data.
