An independent study commissioned by AHRQ to examine Federal investments in health services research (HSR) and primary care research (PCR) is the subject of a new AHRQ Views blog post by director Gopal Khanna, M.B.A. The study, conducted by the RAND Corp., concluded HSR and PCR are integral to the Nation’s healthcare system. Authors reviewed Federal investments between 2011 and 2018 and concluded there was minimal research overlap between agencies. The report proposed recommendations for maximizing the impact of research investments and suggested steps for improving the relevance and timeliness of HSR and PCR.
