In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the FDA Office of Minority Health and Health Equity will host a webinar titled Reducing Tobacco Use in Latinx Communities on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm ET. The webinar will feature Maria Otero, Director of the New Mexico Community Health Worker Association. Ms. Otero will describe how Nuestra Salud, a community-based organization housed within the New Mexico Community Health Worker Association, used a health communication campaign to connect Spanish-speaking communities to tobacco cessation support. She will also discuss the significance of using tailored and evidence-based approaches for wellness interventions for Latinx communities, as well as barriers, strategies, lessons learned, and recommendations.
One continuing education unit (CEU) will be offered for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and certified health education specialists (CHES) who attend this webinar.
