KFF Examines 988's LGBTQ Service and Finds High Demand and Some Challenges
KFF reviewed new public performance data from the 988 crisis line and identified high demand for the services designed to meet the needs of LGBTQ and young adults. We also found people using the LGBTQ service were more likely to encounter certain challenges, including double the call abandonment rate (21% v. 11%) and substantially longer wait times—typically about double the wait time for 988 overall.
