The NIMH Strategic Plan for Research outlines the Institute’s research goals and priorities over the next five years

https://www.nimh.nih.gov/about/strategic-planning-reports The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) recently released the 2024 update to the NIMH Strategic Plan for Research to keep pace with evolving scientific approaches and research priorities. This iteration of the Strategic Plan, originally published in 2020, guides NIMH grantees, potential grant applicants, and staff in the design and implementation of future research. Most notably, the updated Strategic Plan emphasizes NIMH’s commitment to funding research that addresses the needs of individuals from underserved populations. In addition, we expanded on NIMH’s interest in research that uses data and digital health technologies to identify clinical symptoms of mental illnesses and provide personalized interventions. NIMH also developed a companion Progress Report, highlighting significant accomplishments over the last fiscal year. And we encourage you to visit the Progress pages, where we feature NIMH-supported research that is advancing each of the four goals of the Strategic Plan. https://www.nimh.nih.gov/about/strategic-planning-reports/progress/2023-strategic-plan-progress-report Progress for Goal 1 https://www.nimh.nih.gov/about/strategic-planning-reports/progress/goal-1-define-brain-mechanisms
