Each year, as required by the NIH Revitalization Act of 1993, OAR prepares the NIH HIV/AIDS Professional Judgment Budget (PJ) for submission to the President and Congress. The highlighted areas cut across the research continuum. • Accelerate implementation science to end the HIV epidemic • Develop new technologies for self-testing and multiplex testing • Understand and treat HIV-related co-occurring conditions • Advance progress towards an HIV cure • Strengthen HIV data sharing and harmonization OAR estimates the additional funding for expanded NIH HIV research at $1.059 billion, or 32 percent, over the FY 2026 enacted budget of $3.294 billion.
