Healthcare affordability reached a 5-year low in 2025, according to a Gallup poll, with less than half of US adults saying they can afford access to care, doctor visits, and medications.
Insurance plays a large role in this, with premiums increasing and care plans routinely falling into buckets of "what can be covered." For doctors, this also means weighing treatment and care vs insurers will authorize and reimburse.
Medscape surveyed 751 physicians across more than 29 specialties to understand more about how private-payer insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid affect their ability to provide care and where they see things heading.
