Resident supervision and patient safety: do different levels of resident supervision affect the rate of morbidity and mortality cases?

In this retrospective study, adverse outcomes did not differ between care teams led by senior residents versus attending physicians in an academic emergency department. Furthermore, there was no evidence of a "July Effect," as the number of morbidity and mortality cases did not change in the beginning of the academic year.
