Majority of Americans want to pay more attention to their health

new survey from UnitedHealthcare asked Americans about their wellness habits and attitudes and found that more than 80% want to pay more attention to their health. Here’s more from the survey:
  • Health priorities: A healthy diet was the biggest priority, followed by routine medical care. Reducing drinking and stopping smoking came in third. When asked if a financial incentive would motivate them to spend at least an hour daily improving their health, 40% of respondents said anywhere between $1-$5 a day would be necessary.
  • Physical activity: 60% said they would be motivated to participate in a physical activity if it provided a social component. 63% increased their activity because of workplace wellness programs.
  • Aging attitudes: More than half expect to be healthy enough to do everyday tasks such as climbing stairs when they are 80 or older.
