Salary: £27,854 – £29,541 (with progression to £36,298)
Closing Date: 20 March 2013 The primary focus of your role will be to maximise the outputs of the ambitious EU funded RD-Connect project with relation to its position and impact in the developing applications of –omics research to rare diseases. You will also co-ordinate and develop the TREAT-NMD advisory committee for therapeutics. This is a varied and exciting role with extensive opportunities for collaborations with researchers and patient groups worldwide.
You should have a PhD in a relevant subject (e.g. genetics) and have demonstrated experience of working with industry. You should have an interest in healthcare and international collaboration.
You will be a dynamic scientist with excellent communication skills to fill an important post combining two key roles within the EU projects team in the Muscle Group at the Institute of Genetic Medicine. You will be enthusiastic and a communicative team-worker.
You will join an international, multidisciplinary team working in the area of translational research for neuromuscular diseases and other rare disorders. The post will be based at the Newcastle Muscle Centre, a medical research group and internationally recognised care centre for neuromuscular patients that is led by Professors Kate Bushby, Volker Straub and Hanns Lochmüller and situated within the Institute of Genetic Medicine. This dynamic group is responsible for a number of European projects in the rare disease field and you will join a team of staff working in this international environment.
