HIMSS16 is quickly approaching February 29 – March 4 at the Venetian – Palazzo - Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. ONC leaders will be out in full force at HIMSS facilitating and hosting various main education sessions and listening sessions. Andy and Rebecca will combine their backgrounds in implementation and policy to review facility- and discipline-specific tasks that can support regulatory efforts to ease the health IT burden on bedside clinicians.

The eCQI Resource Center is a one-stop shop for the most current resources to support electronic clinical quality improvement. The website provides a centralized location for critical clinical quality measure resources, including the electronic clinical quality measures and their specifications, links to tools for measure development, testing, and clinical decision support (CDS). The 2015 Edition Final Test Method has been posted and additional test procedure tools have been added. It can be accessed on the ONC Health IT Certification Program webpage. The test procedures offer objective guidance to Accredited Testing Laboratories (ATLs) as they conduct Health IT module testing in the ONC Health IT Certification Program, to provide traceability from the certification criterion or criteria to testing activities, and to ensure consistency throughout the certification process.
The new Test Procedures format includes a grid of testing components that the ATLs would use as the test approach for that particular criterion. The Final Test Method outlines the requirements for evaluating conformance of health IT Modules to the certification criteria defined in the ONC 2015 Edition Final Rule (45 CFR Part 170 Subpart II) published in the Federal Register on October 16, 2015.
On January 20th, the study Variation in Rural Health Information Technology Adoption and Use by ONC’s Dawn Heisey-Grove, public health analyst, was published in Health Affairs. The study shows that while rural hospitals and physicians have adopted health information technology at the same, or greater, rates as their urban counterparts, meaningful-use attestation varies dramatically among rural providers.
