Blockchain Challenge Winners Announced

More than 70 submissions were received for the Use of Blockchain in Health IT and Health-related Research Challenge. Of those submissions, 15 were chosen as winners. The whitepapers detail how Blockchain technology could be used in healthcare and health IT to protect, manage, and exchange electronic health information.

Attend ONC Webinars on the Consumer Health Data Aggregator and Provider User Experience Challenges Phase 1 Winners

Last month, ONC announced the Phase 1 winners of the Consumer Health Data Aggregator Challenge and the Provider User Experience Challenge, which incentivized the development of apps that make electronic health information easier to access and use for both consumers and providers.TODAY, August 30 from 3:00 to 4:00 ET, the four Consumer Health Data Aggregator Challenge winners will discuss their submissions on a webinar (register online), and the four Provider User Experience Challenge winners will do the same on Thursday, September 1 from 3:00 to 4:00 ET(register online).

Webinar Recording Available for Move Health Data Forward Challenge

A recording of the second webinar for the Move Health Data Forward Challenge held on 8/18 is now available.  This webinar includes information about the challenge and frequently asked questions. The challenge encourages participants to create an API solution to allow people to securely authorize the movement of their health data to destinations they choose.  Applications for the challenge are due on September 8^th.

Interoperability in Practice: Health IT and School Health Nurses

Last September ONC awarded 10 grants through the Community Interoperability and Health Information Exchange Cooperative Agreement Program to support communities to securely share and use electronic health data with providers and individuals across the health ecosystem.  Two awardees, one focused on rural providers in Georgia and the other on childhood asthma in Wisconsin, chose to concentrate on exchanging health data with school health nurses.
