BARDA Announces New Public-Private Partnerships and Medical Countermeasure Contract Awards to Combat 21st Century Health Security ThreatsWithin the last two weeks, the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) announced contracts for advancing the development of a treatment for skin exposed to sulfur mustard; an IV formulation of a smallpox antiviral medication; quicker tests to identify bacterial infections; and a fast-acting, long-lasting intranasal opiod overdose drug. In addition, BARDA announced a strategic partnership using an other transaction agreement to jointly manage and share the cost to develop a portfolio of products that meet national health security requirements. |
