Pharma's money is still good in Washington
If the drug industry has a rough go of the upcoming midterm elections, it won't be for lack of effort.
As STAT's Nicholas Florko reports, the lobbying group PhRMA is on pace to break its previous spending records this year, doling out $21 million in the first three quarters alone.
PhRMA's spending spree comes as officials from both parties have vowed to bring down drug prices through legislation and executive action, putting the drug industry on the defensive.
