Take a Peep at this year's science diorama contest winners

"A PEEP INTO THE LIFE OF A DATA SCIENTIST." (KERRI BARTON, ALLY HINTON, JACLYN JANIS, LEE LUCAS, KIM MURRAY, SHRAVANTHI SESHASAYEE, DEANNA WILLIAMS/THE OPEN NOTEBOOK)
The science-themed Peeps diorama contest I told you about in January just announced the winners of the competition, which is now in its second year. The contest, hosted by The Open Notebook, tasked people with using the marshmallow treats to create science scenes. More than 70 groups participated in this year's contest, and the top prize went to “A Peep into the Life of a Data Scientist,” which depicts four main tasks that a data scientist does on a regular basis, including data cleaning and data modeling. Other winners included a timely "Wash Your Hands" diorama showing the history behind the discovery that soapy water can kill viruses, and "The Evolution of Peepkind,” which won the "Best Science History" category. Check out the full list here.

Correction: In yesterday's Covid-19 round-up, I misspelled the name of one of our STAT First Opinion contributors. His name is spelled Henry Greely.
