Scientists funded by Mark Zuckerberg criticize Facebook’s inaction on Trump posts

More than 200 scientists who are being funded by Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg's philanthropic efforts have signed an open letter criticizing him and his company for its policies on misinformation. "The spread of news that is not vetted for factual accuracy leads to confusion and a mistrust of experts," the letter, penned by those funded by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and the CZI Biohub, states. The letter is part of the backlash to Facebook's refusal to take down inflammatory posts from President Trump in response to the protests as a result of George Floyd's killing by police in Minnesota. "We urge you to consider stricter policies on misinformation and incendiary language that harms people or groups of people, especially in our current climate that is grappling with racial injustice," the letter says.
