Covid-19 tests cost more than they should, some say
The cost of Covid-19 testing has stirred up some controversy on the Twitterverse. Jeff Huber, founding CEO of Illumina spinout Grail, did some quick math — claiming that at scale Covid-19 tests should cost less than $10 apiece, and that it’s “a crime” to charge $100. He’s not alone in that sentiment.
“Many companies/labs in US are making millions, limiting access to tests,” Harvard epidemiologist Michael Mina claimed on Twitter. “Amid a global emergency and tragedy, costs driven by excessive medical reimbursements are a national embarrassment.”
