Inside STAT: Ahead of Neuralink event, ex-employees detail research timeline clashes

On Friday, Elon Musk's secretive brain implants company Neuralink is set to give its first major update on progress in more than a year. The company has recently signaled that its initial focus will be on developing technology to help paralyzed individuals operate smartphones and robotic limbs. But whatever the news later this week is, a new STAT examination finds that the company's work will have emerged from a number internal clashes between the company's rushed timelines and the slow pace of conducting scientific research.
