On Tuesday, August 11, the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and the Medical Library Association (MLA) hosted the Leiter Lecture presented by Dr. John Brownstein on Digital Epidemiology and the COVID-19 Pandemic. Video from the lecture is now available: https://videocast.nih.gov/watch=38269
John S. Brownstein is professor of biomedical informatics at Harvard Medical School and is the chief innovation officer of Boston Children’s Hospital. He also directs the Computational Epidemiology Lab and the Innovation and Digital Health Accelerator, both at Boston Children’s Hospital. Brownstein is also Uber’s health care advisor and cofounder of the digital health companies Epidemico and Circulation.
Dr. John Brownstein spoke on the surveillance, control, and prevention of disease, the development and application of data mining, and citizen science to public health in relation to his work with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Joseph Leiter NLM/MLA Lectureship was established in 1983.  Lectures are chosen for their ability to discuss subjects related to biomedical communications.
