New AHRQ Views Blog and Issue Brief Examine Telemedicine’s Role in Making Timely, Accurate Diagnoses
With the stepped-up demand for telemedicine during COVID-19, AHRQ has recognized the need to study its efficacy in providing timely and accurate diagnoses, according to Jeff Brady, M.D., M.P.H., director of AHRQ’s Center for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. To address these questions, a new AHRQ-funded issue brief offers a definition of “telediagnosis” and identifies how it can support safe and effective care. The brief, which is featured in a new blog from Dr. Brady, also identifies potential pitfalls and challenges that need further study, such as lack of internet access among priority populations and the importance of effective communications skills among clinicians.
