Teachable Moments: Teachable Moments Teachable Moments are educational materials, intended to engage direct care staff in infect A Fresh, Engaging Approach to Infection Prevention Training for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care A new tabletop game turns infection prevention training into a collaborative, story-driven escape room. When players notice a change in a resident’s skin, they work together to interact with environmental services staff, a physician, an infection preventionist, and a resident while revisiting core topics such as skin assessment, hand hygiene, contact precautions, enhanced barrier precautions, and environmental cleaning. The game spans four themed rooms, each requiring players to solve puzzles and earn a code to advance. The teamwork, communication, and critical thinking players must use enforce the important role everyone plays in infection prevention. The AHRQ Safety Program for MRSA Prevention launched the national quality improvement initiative in more than 300 post-acute and long-term care facilities to reduce healthcare-associated infections by strengthening everyday infection prevention practices and improving skin care.
