Association of hospital employee satisfaction with patient safety and satisfaction within Veterans Affairs medical centers.
This cross-sectional study demonstrated that job-specific satisfaction was not associated with patient safety as measured by the AHRQ Patient Safety Indicators or patient satisfaction. Employees' reports of satisfaction with the overall organization, however, were correlated with patient safety and satisfaction. The authors conclude that organizational satisfaction is more associated with patient safety than employee job-specific satisfaction.
