FDA is investigating reports of seizures after vaping
The FDA is investigating dozens of reports of people who experienced seizures after using e-cigarettes. The agency announced yesterday that it had received 35 such reports since 2010, and most cases were in adolescents or young adults. It’s unclear whether there’s a direct link between e-cigs and seizures, the agency says, and it’s asking others who may have experienced such side effects to share their story. Among the reported cases, there was no clear pattern in the frequency of vaping or when the seizures occurred. “While 35 cases may not seem like much compared to the total number of people using e-cigarettes, we are nonetheless concerned by these reported cases,” FDA officials said in a statement.
