To support health care providers during the current multi-state measles outbreak, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has developed this digital toolkit with products for providers and their patients about vaccines and measles. These products include accurate, science-based evidence to help counter misinformation about measles and MMR vaccine. Several states have declared measles outbreaks and public health emergencies in 2019. (Text)

This 104-page publication summarizes the presentations and discussions from a workshop held on June 27-28, 2018, on developing norms for the provision of laboratories in low-resource contexts. The U.S. Department of State's Biosecurity Engagement Program requested that the National Academies organize this workshop to engage an international group of organizations that provide funding for construction, upgrades, and maintenance of biological laboratories in countries without the means to build such labs themselves. The intent was to advance the conversation about the identification and application of guiding principles and common norms for use by these organizations in their grants, partnerships, and aid. It is the second of two hearings, in which the first hearing focused on the history of a consensus on climate change; this hearing discusses the current health impacts of climate change on the health of Americans. This 47-page document describes a bench-scale procedure for testing the efficacy of chlorine bleach for the inactivation of Bacillus spores in wash water generated during a cleanup of a site contaminated with Bacillus anthracis spores, the causative agent of anthrax. Full-scale procedures exist for the treatment of such wash water with chlorine bleach, and these procedures have been tested and the results published. The published results were generated by testing the efficacy of chlorine bleach to inactivate spores using simulated wash waters. (PDF)
