This six-page report on cases of West Nile virus infection is based on data for 2016 retrieved from The European Surveillance System (TESSy) on December 10, 2018. For 2016, seven European Union/European Economic Area Member States reported 238 West Nile virus infections, of which 224 (94 percent) were locally acquired, and 14 were travel-related. Most locally acquired cases were reported by Romania and Italy. (PDF)
