Joint Commission Expert to Expert Series: Technical Implementation of Clinical Quality Language - July 23, 2019

Throughout the Expert to Expert series, The Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) received feedback that more in-depth content regarding the technical aspects of electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM) clinical quality language (CQL) implementation were desired to assist hospital technical staff in their conversion to the language in 2019. The Joint Commission, CMS, Mathematica, and ESAC are partnering to host a webinar to offer this technically-focused content.
This 90-minute session on July 23 at (12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT), is intended for a technical staff audience that is already familiar with the following CQL concepts: Language and data processing; Language translation and/or evaluation; SQL and SQL-Based systems; and familiarity with Clinical Data Representation, including Clinical Data Models and CQL Terminology.
Clinical staff attending should be conversant in these technical concepts. The types of staff that would find value in this content might include: EHR report writers, hospital IT staff engaged in CQL and eCQM implementation, Clinical Informaticists, EHR Analysts, and vendor staff that support hospitals in their technical eCQM and CQL implementation.
During this session, experts from The Joint Commission and ESAC will address:
  • Implementing CQL - architecture-level content about how the reporting should work in technical environments (especially in an SQL-based DBMS)
  • How CQL compares to SQL
  • Using CQL in a database environment to calculate a measure
