Health Security Supplement: What Works? Lessons in Global Health Security Implementation

In the five years since the launch of the Global Health Security Agenda, CDC and partners have made significant contributions to the growing body of scientific evidence-based literature on global health security implementation. Led by CDC’s Division of Global Health Protection, the recently released Health Security Supplement, What Works? Lessons Learned in Global Health Security Implementation, shares tangible examples from CDC and partners’ work to help countries build core public health capacities to quickly identify and address disease threats at their source.

In this supplement, you will find examples of successes and lessons learned by CDC and our partners that highlight the value of effective partnerships, the strong link between local and global public health, and the importance of having measurable targets to improve global health security. The 13 articles included in the supplement serve as a valuable resource for partners and stakeholders in countries that may experience similar public health challenges and are looking for solutions to improve health outcomes.

As you read the articles, we encourage you to reflect on the opportunities presented for further research and discussion, share the information with your network, and explore how you can further contribute to the dialogue and make a difference in public health.
