How one GOP lawmaker is bucking the trend on H.R. 3
House Republicans don’t hold back their disdain for H.R. 3, Speaker Nancy Pelosi's signature drug pricing bill. Take Republican whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), who railed against the bill last week after Democrats pushed for it during Tuesday’s State of the Union. “It doesn’t help their cause that they’re touting a bill that would actually deny hundreds of lifesaving drugs to families who want lower drug prices,” Scalise told me.
But one Republican lawmaker is now bragging about her vote for the controversial bill. In a story out today for STAT, Lev has the latest on how Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-Wash.) is using her vote for H.R. 3 to make the case to voters why she should be reelected come November.
Check out Lev’s story, which includes the mailers Herrera Beutler sent to all of her constituents, claiming she “puts seniors ahead of drug companies.”
