NIAID’s Research Response to COVID-19

In leading the U.S. government’s biomedical research response to the pandemic, NIAID is engaged in a multitude of activities focused on vaccine and therapeutic development as well as other priority areas.

Opportunities and Resources

Awardees will integrate innovative, multidisciplinary clinical and translational research to conduct studies on the mechanisms of onset and progression of asthma, allergic, and related diseases.
NIAID will support milestone-driven projects for preclinical development of lead candidate therapeutics, vaccines, and related countermeasures against select emerging infectious diseases and pathogens.
Apply to develop novel safe and effective oral, injectable, implantable, or transdermal drug products with a patient administration goal of once monthly or less.

In The News

A recent NIH notice states that all grant applications submitted late for due dates between March 9, 2020, and May 1, 2020, will be accepted through May 1, 2020.
NIAID's Scientific Review Program is looking for experts to serve as peer reviewers for evaluating grant applications and contract proposals focusing on severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 and coronavirus disease 2019.
NIH will migrate the electronic Research Administration (eRA) website and its modules and data to a cloud platform. During the transition, the eRA website and its modules will be temporarily unavailable.
NIAID’s Small Business Program is hosting a pair of public webinars to cover topics such as developing Phase I and II applications, commercialization plans, budgeting, award management, and the acquisitions process.
