The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute is partnering with AHRQ to develop a systematic evidence review of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions for the treatment of epilepsy. Published systematic reviews have revealed that evidence supporting treatment strategies for epilepsy in infants and young children is lacking and few recommendations or guidelines are available. A more robust and current literature search, informed by topic experts, with broader inclusion of surgical interventions and brain stimulation strategies may increase the number of available studies, allow for assessment of the strength of evidence for treatments and inform an evidence-based clinical guideline.
