NIAID is seeking exceptional and motivated leaders to serve as physicians in the Division of AIDS (DAIDS). DAIDS supports a global research portfolio to advance knowledge critical to the treatment and/or prevention of HIV and its related infectious (e.g., tuberculosis and hepatitis B) and non-infectious co-morbidities.
The physicians will have a wide range of responsibilities relating to the oversight of a major extramural clinical research program in HIV/AIDS and related conditions. Duties include identification of research gaps and opportunities (diagnostics/biomarkers, drugs/biologics, vaccines); translation of new preclinical tools and interventions into clinical use; development of the clinical research agenda; design, review, and approval of trial protocols; and oversight of the implementation of ongoing trials, including the safety and welfare of participants.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, possess an M.D. or D.O. with active medical license, and have experience in clinical research in infectious diseases. Board eligibility or board certification in adult or pediatric infectious diseases, internal medicine, or pediatrics is preferred.
