The HHS Office of Minority Health has issued a new funding opportunity announcement for demonstration projects that will evaluate if modifications to existing evidence-informed interventions for selected health issues will significantly improve health outcomes for racial and ethnic minority and disadvantaged populations. HIV is included in the list of prioritized health issues that these projects can address.

Watch Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America: A Conversation from AIDS 2020
During AIDS 2020, HIV.gov convened a satellite session, Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America: A Conversation. The session was a conversation between government and community leaders involved with implementing EHE, the government’s initiative working to lower the number of new HIV infections in the U.S. by 75% by 2025 and 90% by 2030.

AHEAD Dashboard and Stakeholders
HHS is developing America’s HIV Epidemic Analysis Dashboard (AHEAD) as a resource for stakeholders. When the dashboard launches in mid-August, it will be the first iteration of several to come. By monitoring data for six HIV indicators, we will be able to measure progress toward reaching the goals of the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative. Over the coming months, we will continue to enhance AHEAD through an iterative process based on stakeholder feedback and input.

HHS Awards Contract to TrialCard to Help Reduce New HIV Infections in America
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will continue to expand access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) HIV prevention medications at no cost to eligible individuals without prescription drug coverage through a $4 million contract with TrialCard for one year with four one-year option periods.

U.S. Attorney’s Office Settles ADA Claim with Plastic Surgeon over Alleged HIV Discrimination
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois announced [on July 28, 2020] that, as part of continued efforts to enforce the Americans with Disabilities Act, it has reached a settlement with Midwest Plastic Surgery in Hinsdale to resolve claims of discrimination against a 47-year-old woman with HIV.
