HHS, DOD Collaborate with Pharmaceutical Companies to Produce Millions of COVID-19 Investigational Vaccine Doses

To meet the goals of Operational Warp Speed, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Defense recently announced agreements with Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer Inc., Novavax Inc., and AstraZeneca to demonstrate large-scale manufacturing of each company's COVID-19 vaccine candidate. The federal government will own the resulting doses of each company's vaccine. If the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorizes use of any of these investigational vaccines, the federally-owned doses would be distributed as part of a COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
