Half of the people in the United States take at least one prescription drug, and KFF polling from 2025 found that more than 1 in 4 adults under age 65 report difficulty affording their medication; these shares are much higher among those with individual insurance and the uninsured. Aimed at addressing high prescription drug costs, on February 6, 2026, the Trump administration launched TrumpRx, a government website that provides prescription drug discounts to consumers. This Issue Brief examines issues that may impact consumers who access drug discounts through TrumpRx, particularly those with private insurance, and sets out key policy questions going forward.
