European Physicians and Relationships Report 2026 Edited by Dr Nadia El-Awady (+...)

https://www.medscape.com/p11/european-physicians-and-relationships-report-2026-2026a100120z A German psychiatrist summed up his romantic life in a single line: Being a doctor brings advantages in meeting people, and disadvantages in keeping them. Long hours, night shifts, and the emotional weight of medical work do not stop at the hospital door. But what are the impacts on a doctor's relationship when the job follows them home? What 2909 doctors in France, Germany, and the UK told us is that medicine can exact a private cost — and that the impact varies substantially by gender, age, and country. About half said their working conditions had damaged their sex life, while the pressures on relationships differed considerably across the three countries. Medscape surveyed 2909 practicing physicians — 1008 in France, 1005 in Germany, and 896 in the UK — between October 22, 2025, and March 3, 2026.
