These presentation slides are from a one-hour, 30-minute webinar from TRACIE (Technical Resources, Assistance Center, and Information Exchange) that provides information about the history of the hospital incident command system (HICS), its features and structure, and how to use it. Speakers discuss the Bellevue Hospital’s response and recovery using HICS during Hurricane Sandy, HCA Healthcare's Enterprise Preparedness and Emergency Operations (EPEO) program, and HICS in a large healthcare organization. The results presented in this 108-page report are based on antimicrobial resistance data from invasive isolates reported to the European Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Network (EARS-Net) by 30 European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) countries in 2018 (data referring to 2017), and on trend analyses of data reported by the participating countries for the period 2014 to 2017. High levels of resistance remain in the EU/EEA for several bacterial species–antimicrobial group combinations. (PDF)

The information in this 164-page report provides guidance, inspiration, and motivation to countries in Central Asia and Eastern Europe that are building or strengthening their national antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance. The high percentages of resistance and the resistance profiles in this report strongly support the global call for action, and emphasize the importance of good clinical practice in slowing the further development of AMR. Using surveillance data to initiate and monitor AMR control efforts in clinical settings and raising awareness among policy-makers and the public are essential in fighting AMR. (PDF)

This 714-page book examines peer-reviewed scientific reports concerning associations between various health outcomes and exposure to the dioxin TCDD and other chemicals in the herbicides used in Vietnam that were published between September 30, 2014, and December 31, 2017, and integrates this information with the previously established evidence database. TCDD, the most toxic form of dioxin, was an unintended contaminant generated during the production of the herbicide 2,4,5-T and was present in Agent Orange and some other formulations sprayed in Vietnam. The book discusses complaints from returning Vietnam veterans about their own health and that of their children, and emerging toxicologic evidence of adverse effects of phenoxy herbicides and TCDD. This 103-page report examines information the federal government has about the procurement, distribution, use, and disposition of Agent Orange, and Department of Defense and Veterans Administration efforts to make available information about where Agent Orange and its components were tested and stored. It also discusses challenges associated with Agent Orange testing, and makes six recommendations. (PDF)

This 145-page document, the second edition of the Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS) program, provides updates and implementation guidance based on two decades of using CBITS nationally. CBITS is designed for use with groups of students who have experienced significant traumatic experiences and are suffering from related emotional or behavioral problems, particularly symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. It focuses primarily on three goals: decreasing current symptoms related to trauma exposure, building skills for handling stress and anxiety, and building peer and caregiver support. (PDF)

This 18-page report examines what outcomes school feeding interventions aim to achieve in humanitarian response, and what evidence there is that they have achieved them. It discusses what the evidence is of the added value (or not) of school feeding when combined and compared with other social protection programs, e.g. cash transfers; and how, when responding to natural disasters or economic or political shocks, relationships with governments from the national to the local level are key to successful school feeding programs. This 17-minute podcast discusses how sharing surveillance data can improve global public health, and help prevent or mitigate the effect of infectious diseases. Equitable data sharing includes working toward more equitable sharing of the public health benefits that data sharing brings, and requires the engagement of those providing the data, those interpreting and using the data generated by others, those facilitating the data-sharing process, and those deriving and contributing to the benefit. This 143-page report describes antimicrobial resistance (AMR) data gathered through the Central Asian and Eastern European Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance (CAESAR) network from nine countries in the World Health Organization European Region– Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Montenegro, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Switzerland, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Turkey – and Kosovo. The aim of the report is to provide guidance and inspiration to countries that are building or strengthening their national AMR surveillance, and stimulate the sharing of data internationally. (PDF)

This 72-page protocol provides the project coordination team with detailed information for the implementation of the Proof-of-Principle routine diagnostics project for antimicrobial resistance surveillance (PoP project), including methods, standard operating procedures, and expected outputs of the project. As a result of the project, baseline data on the main pathogens causing blood stream infections and their antimicrobial susceptibility patterns will become available, providing clinicians with information needed to make antibiotic treatment choices.
