CDC has published the 2016 Healthcare-Associated Infection Progress Report. The report contains national and state-by-state summaries of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)—infections patients can get while receiving medical treatment in a healthcare facility—across four healthcare settings: acute care hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, long-term acute care hospitals, and critical access hospitals.
These data can be used to highlight progress, as well as target areas that need improvement. Highlights of state performance with respect to the 2015 baseline infection-specific standardized infection ratios include
  • 27 states performed better on at least three infection types
  • 13 states performed better on at least four infection types
  • 10 states performed worse on at least two infection types
  • No state performed worse on three infection types or more
This is the first progress report published in CDC’s AR Patient Safety Atlas, a new site that makes data easier to access and view.
