Recovery LIVE! Supporting People in Recovery to Access and Engage in Education

Thursday | November 29, 2018 | 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. (ET)

SAMHSA’s Bringing Recovery Supports to Scale Technical Assistance Center Strategy (BRSS TACS) invites you to join national experts in a conversation about the assistance that treatment and support providers can provide to individuals in recovery from serious mental illness (SMI) or substance use disorders (SUD) to help identify and pursue their educational goals.
Presenters will:
  • Discuss ways to support individuals as they consider educational options and accessing resources.
  • Outline examples of recovery support services that compliment care and are available for those individuals already in school.
This event supports critical Departmental and agency priorities to improve the lives of individuals with SMI and SUD. Examples include:
  • The SAMHSA-led Interdepartmental Serious Mental Illness Coordinating Committee (ISMICC), which focuses on ways to improve the lives of individuals living with SMI and their families, including a focus on increasing access to supportive services.
  • The 2018 Surgeon General’s Report, Facing Addiction in America: The Surgeon General’s Report on Alcohol, Drugs and Health, which highlights the value of collegiate recovery programs for their recovery-supportive environments and peer engagement with other students in recovery.
Join us for this free, interactive virtual event, moderated by BRSS TACS Deputy Director, Steven Samra.
