A collaborative approach to reducing steroid overuse in asthma treatment

Frequent use of oral corticosteroids (OCS) is a common sign that a patient’s asthma is severe or uncontrolled. OCS are often prescribed because they’re fast-acting, inexpensive, and easy to access — but they can come with potential serious health risks. AstraZeneca has embarked on a collaborative effort — alongside advocacy groups, professional societies and members of industry — to raise awareness about better treatment approaches for asthma patients, with the goal of reducing the reliance on OCS treatments.
