Short Description:
The Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) are committed to supporting hospitals on their journey towards electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM) adoption and transition to the new Clinical Quality Language (CQL) logic expression language for the 2019 eCQM reporting period.
This one-hour session will provide a high-level introduction to the CQL logic expression language. Both CMS and The Joint Commission will move from the previous quality data model (QDM) logic expression language to CQL for the 2019 reporting period. This session is intended to prepare hospitals for this transition and serves as a precursor to a more focused/technical educational webinar series starting in late 2018 and continuing in early 2019 that will offer a deeper dive into the specifics of CQL logic for each individual eCQM. At the end of this CQL Basics session, participants will be able to:
- Understand basic concepts about the new CQL eCQM expression language logic
- Prepare for implementation of the CQL logic expression language for the 2019 eCQM reporting period
- Know where to find additional resources and ask questions about eCQMs and CQL
