Univ. Prof. Dr. Siroos Mirzaei (pictured) is Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine of the Wilhelminen Hospital in Vienna and Leader in Nuclear Medicine Clinical Audit European Board of Nuclear Medicine.

Prof. Dr.med. Thomas Wenzel is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Medical University of Vienna. He is a licensed Psychiatrist/Neurologist, Psychotherapist, Habilitation on “Sequels to extreme life events” (University of Vienna), Psychotherapist, Long standing research, educational and intervention focus on Trauma and Refugees.


Human Rights Day: What roles do physicians play in human rights issues?

December 10th is Human Rights Day, honoring the date the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. To mark the occasion we invited Siroos Mirzaei, associate editor of BMC International Health and Human Rights and Thomas Wenzel to write about the role physicians play in upholding human rights and dangers this can put them in.
