MIPS 2018 Data Submission Period Has Closed; Preliminary Performance Feedback Data for MIPS Now Available

The data submission period for the 2018 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) closed on April 2, 2019. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is currently in the process of reviewing all the data submitted. We would like to thank all of the clinicians who submitted their data, as well as the qualified clinical data registries, qualified registries, EHR vendors, and other organizations that submitted 2018 MIPS data on behalf of clinicians.
Preliminary Feedback on 2018 MIPS Data Submission Now Available
If you submitted data through the Quality Payment Program website, you are now able to review your preliminary performance feedback data. However, please keep in mind, this is not your final score or feedback.
Your final score and feedback will be available in July 2019. Between now and June 30, 2019, your score could change based on the following:
  • Special status scoring considerations (e.g., hospital-based clinicians)
  • All-Cause Readmission Measure for the Quality performance category
  • Claims measures to include the 60-day run out period
  • CAHPS for MIPS Survey results
  • Advancing Care Information Hardship Application status
  • Improvement Study participation and results
  • Creation of performance period benchmarks for Quality measures that didn’t have a historical benchmark
Your final score and feedback will be available in July 2019 through the Quality Payment Program website. You will be able to access preliminary and final feedback with the same HCQIS Access Roles and Profile (HARP) credentials that allowed you to submit and view your data during the submission period. Don’t have a HARP account? Start the process now! Refer to QPP Access User Guide and this video for step-by-step instructions

Reminder: Nomination Period Open for MACRA Episode-Based Cost Measures Clinical Subcommittees

CMS has contracted with Acumen, LLC to develop care episode and patient condition groups for use in cost measures to meet the requirements of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). As part of the development and maintenance processes, Acumen is seeking nominations from clinicians to participate in Clinical Subcommittees that will provide input on the development of chronic, procedural, and acute inpatient medical condition episode-based cost measures for potential use in the Quality Payment Program (QPP).
Wave 3 of the Clinical Subcommittees includes the following clinical areas: (1) Chronic Condition and Disease Management; (2) Dermatologic Disease Management; (3) General and Colorectal Surgery; and (4) Hospital Medicine.
Nominations close on April 12, 2019 at 11:59 PM ET.  Clinicians interested in joining a Clinical Subcommittee for the first time may submit their nomination through this web-based nomination form. Subcommittee and workgroup members from Wave 2 who are interested in continuing their involvement should indicate interest in an abbreviated form shared directly via email. Subcommittee members who participated in Wave 1 but not Wave 2 should fill out the public nomination form to ensure Acumen has the most recent information. For more information, please see the nomination form or this CMS webpage.

CMS: Beyond the Policy Podcast

Today, CMS is releasing the latest episode of our podcast, CMS: Beyond the Policy. This episode brings highlights from the 2019 CMS Quality Conference. An annual event attracting over 3,000 participants this year had a strong focus on reducing clinician burden so they can focus on patients, promoting health care choice and driving value based care. You will find highlights from CMS Administrator Seema Verma’s key note speech where she discussed the vision for Medicare and the agency this year as well as audience reaction. We hope you enjoy this condensed version of the conference knowing that it’s not always possible to attend in person. You can listen to the podcast here as well as on Google Play and iTunes.
